Ashburton Riders Club (ARC)

Ashburton Riders Club An informal group of cyclists from (mostly), the Ashburton, Glen Iris and Camberwell area.

The Boroondara Bushwalkers also do rides.

Many of our commuting members are more than happy to be accompanied on their rides into the CBD, if all you need is a guide to get you on your way. If you're not sure you have the confidence to go on a ride just yet, you may like to pick up some riding tips in our Bicycle Information section.

Want to watch some racing locally? Hawthorn cycling club host criteriums during daylight saving at the closed loop of Kew Boulevard. A,B,C and D grades. Wednesday nights from 6pm.

Rotary River Ride

Held annually, typically in October, the ride starts in Hays Paddock, Kew East (map), and makes use of the off road shared paths such as the Yarra River Trail, Koonung Creek Trail and the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail. Proceeds go to charity.

Sassafras Ride

AKA Bike Life Hill Ride. Every Sunday all year. Starts at "Bike Life", 114 Auburn Road, Hawthorn, near corner of Burwood Road and the overhead railway bridge, opposite the Geebung Polo Club, Melway ref. map 45 F10. Arrive prior to 7:30am to ensure departure at 7:30am sharp. Arrives in Sassafras around 9:00am and leaves Sassafras by 9:30am Arrives back in Hawthorn around 10:45am.

Distance under 70km from Hawthorn to Sassafras return (includes the 7km 1 in 20 hill climb). Route: Auburn Road, Rathmines Road, Canterbury Road, Boronia Road, Mountain Highway (Wantirna Sassafras Road), Mount Dandenong Tourist Road. You can join and leave the peloton anywhere along this route.

Yarra Boulevard in Kew

One of Melbourne's most popular training routes lies within Boroondara: Yarra Boulevard in Kew, between Walmer St and Chandler Hwy.
