$8 Million Investment in Anniversary Trail

Great news for #cyclists, walkers, commuters, and families who use Boroondara’s famous #AnniversaryTrail.

An elected Liberal Victoria State Government will build the missing link on the Anniversary Trail above Toorak Road in Glen Iris/Camberwell.

This new crossing and ramps will seperate the Anniversary Trail from Toorak Road and improve safety for all users.

A Liberal State Government says they will work closely with the City of Boroondara, locals, #cyclists and other trail users to get the design and construction process right.

Nearby residents can reach out to asher.judah@vic.liberal.org.au if you have any feedback on the design and any improvements we can make.

RACV urging get on bikes

When the car lobby call for federal funding of cycling infrastructure, let’s hope they listen, particularly with projects such as the Hawthorn to Box Hill Trail.

RACV has joined forces with the AAA and is urging the Federal Government to get on their bikes and fund cycling infrastructure to encourage further take-up of cycling.

Bicycle sales hit 1.7 million last year, after hovering around the 1.1-1.2 million mark for the previous decade, as people looked for an exercise activity and commuting option that complied with social distancing.

Imagine the Hawthorn to Box Hill Bike trail

There is room on existing railway bridges for a bike path. It’s disappointing that we only get strategies, not safe and efficient cycling infrastructure. The Hawthorn to Box Hill trail is 25 years overdue. City of Boroondara, Bicycle Network & Department of Transport and Dr Monique Ryan support this route.

Farm Road link update

The Farm Road link is one step closer, it will provide safe access between Alphington and the Darebin Creek trail. The necessary planning scheme amendment was unanimously supported at Council on Monday 25 January.

City of Yarra Councillors unanimously supported the Farm Road link to the Darebin Creek trail.

Councillors have been expressing support for the link for many years (thank you) and on Monday voted unanimously to support the link. Councillors were understandably concerned about any impact on habitat and have asked that be closely considered as part of the implementation.

The Community Coalition also asked that Council begin consultation on appropriate improvements to the roads and footpaths approaching the entrance to the new path to enable primary and high school students to safely travel to and from school.
