The City of Boroondara is asking for community feedback until 22 October on proposed changes to the Koonung Creek Reserve by the North East Link Project (NELP).
The project currently plans to acquire 20% of the reserve to widen the freeway.
There are currently separate walking and cycling paths through the reserve – the NELP plans to replace these with a single shared path
We think this is a backwards step that would impact both pedestrians and cyclists.
The Boroondara Bicycle Strategy has an action for the Council to
“Advocate for direct off-road path alignment including separate paths for pedestrians and bicycle riders for the reconstruction of the Koonung Trail”
